This Bible in a Year reading plan takes you through all 1,189 chapters in 365 days by pairing the Old and New Testament every day — never fewer than 2 chapters or more than 4, about 12–15 minutes of reading. Day 1 is Genesis 1–3 with Matthew 1. The Old Testament runs evenly from Genesis to Malachi across the whole year while the New Testament runs alongside it, reaching Revelation 22 on day 364. Why read both testaments every day

Most one-year attempts die in the same place: somewhere in Leviticus, weeks into offerings and purity laws with nothing else on the page. This plan never leaves you there alone. The day Leviticus begins (day 36) you are also reading the Last Supper in Matthew 26. The Old Testament gives you the long story of God and his people; the New Testament keeps Jesus in view the whole way through.

An even pace, all year

The plan spreads the 929 Old Testament chapters and 260 New Testament chapters evenly over 365 days, so every day is 2 to 4 chapters — no 10-chapter marathons, no day that is suddenly twice as long. The New Testament appears on 260 days of the year and finishes with Revelation 22 on day 364; the last day closes the Old Testament with Malachi 3–4.

How many chapters a day is the Bible in a Year plan?

Between 2 and 4 chapters every day, about 12 to 15 minutes of reading. The 929 Old Testament and 260 New Testament chapters are spread evenly across 365 days.

Does this plan read the Old and New Testament at the same time?

Yes. Each day pairs Old Testament chapters with the New Testament on 260 of the 365 days. Day 1 is Genesis 1–3 with Matthew 1, and the New Testament finishes with Revelation 22 on day 364.

Is this the same plan as the By The Water app?

Yes. It is the app's default Bible in a Year plan (called Blended in the app), reproduced here day for day.

Can I start this plan after January 1, 2027?

Yes. The dates are only a guide for a January 1 start. Begin at Day 1 on any date and follow the day numbers; in the app, the plan simply starts wherever you begin.
